Flood: Succour For Elem-Sangama Community As O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation Donates Food, Drugs

Although December 26 is recognized as Boxing Day, when boxes containing Christmas gifts are opened, the people of Elem-Sangama Community in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State got their ‘Christmas gifts’ earlier on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, courtesy of the O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation.
The O. B. Lulu Briggs Foundation’s train was at Elem Sangama, with abundant food and drugs for residents following the flood that devastated the community and displaced thousands.
Worth millions of Naira, the humanitarian gesture to one of the coastal communities on the Sombrero River came a few weeks after a similar outreach to the people of Akinima in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state.
It was an occasion to relish as the excited men, women, and children trooped to the community jetty to welcome the Foundation’s team, with some agile youths helping to convey the materials to the Town Hall, where they were distributed.
The relief materials comprising food items, toiletries, drugs, treated mosquito nets and wrappers were in jumbo-sized bags and distributed to the appreciative victims.
The Foundation’s medical team also attended to people with health challenges.
Chairman of the O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation, Dr. (Mrs) Seinye Lulu-Briggs, said the donation demonstrated her commitment to the plight of displaced persons across Nigeria.
Recall that Dr. Mrs Seinye Lulu-Briggs had promised to identify with other communities affected by the flood disaster during the donation of relief materials to displaced people in Akinima.
“We are in Elem-Sangama to fulfil that promise, and we shall do more with the right strategic partnerships and collaborations,” she said.
“Our intervention coincides with the Christmas season. Christmas is a season of giving by God. We recall that He gave his only begotten Son to bring us peace and joy.
“We are doing as instructed by God by sharing what we have with our brothers and sisters in Elem-Sangama. We are His hands and legs. Our mandate is to ensure that no natural occurrences stop anyone from experiencing the wonderful spiritual gift that brings us eternal life. And I call on other individuals and organisations who can afford it, to support underprivileged Nigerians and make them happy this Christmas”, she added.
The Amayanabo of Elem Sangama, HRH, Chief Tamunobere Dabere Onisah JP, could not agree less as he, in response to her speech, described the gesture as the best Christmas gift received by the community.

The people are thrilled and thankful for this assistance. It is very timely. We will write her a letter of gratitude confirming that we received the consignment she graciously sent.
“I have also told my people that we must nurture this relationship between the O.B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation and us into the future. Nothing must come between us.”
Some beneficiaries who spoke at the event applauded the Foundation’s gesture and prayed God to replenish the source from which the gifts had come.
Deacon James Anietie, a minister at the St. Clement Lutheran Church, Elem-Sangama, while commending the Foundation for the gesture, also praised the Chairman for excellent use of what he described as wisdom from God.
For Madam Ere Mathew Aaron, the gesture would remain indelible not just in her memory but in the annals of Elem-Sangama.
“I lost almost all my belongings to the flood. I was in the kitchen when it came and had to escape for my dear life. I lost everything, including plantain and other food crops. May God bless Dr. (Mrs) Seinye Lulu-Briggs for saving my family. This is a wonderful Christmas gift,” she prayed.
