INEC To Conduct Mock Accreditation Of Voters
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Friday that it was prepared to conduct a mock accreditation of voters before the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, National Chairman of the Commission, disclosed this information during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners from the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT.
The mock accreditation exercise, which will take place in approximately 436 polling places across the country, is intended to test the readiness of the Biomodified Voter Accreditation System, according to the official (BVAS).
According to him, the distribution of sensitive election materials to the various states is well underway, while the distribution of non-sensitive materials has been completed.
As of Thursday, approximately 839,720 of the 940,200 PVCs sent to Lagos state had been collected.
He expressed satisfaction with the Nigerians’ desire to collect their voter cards.
He stated that the commission was committed to ensuring that all Nigerians collect their PVCs prior to the general elections and that, if necessary, the commission would consider other options for PVC collection.
