NYCN Asks Rivers Youths To Support Sim Fubara

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Rivers State Chapter has called on Rivers youths to support the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sir Siminalayi Fubara in the March 18th Governorship\State Assembly Elections.

Chairman NYCN Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo made the call at a one day Youths Summit his council organized in conjunction with Rivers for Rivers Network in Port Harcourt.

Ihunwo said Rivers Youths should not vote for old and greedy politicians, but should support someone from the new generation of leaders in the state.

Hear the NYCN Chairman: “We must not give the state to miscreants, we must not give the state to greedy people. We are going to vote the people who have the mind to support the youths.”

According to Ihunwo, the same greedy sets of politicians had been in charge of the state since 1999 beginning from Odili, Amaechi, Magnus Abe and others, stressing that the state needed a younger person and urged the youths to support Mr Siminalayi Fubara as governor of Rivers State.

“We need younger people, and if Sim becomes governor, we will begin to have youths as commissioners, not old men. So, don’t be deceived by faceless politicians. This is the time for youths to rule the state,” he said.

Ihunwo said the revolution of youth leadership had started in Rivers State with Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who he described as the pride of Nigeria.

The NYCN Chairman said Governor Wike had done so much, stressing that if Rivers people want to consolidate on his achievements, they should support and vote for Sim Fubara.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Tony Okocha while speaking on the theme of the summit: “Linking the Future of Youths of Rivers State to the Dreams of Our Founding Fathers,” urged the youths to rise up and uphold the visions of the founding fathers of the state and not to betray it, stressing that their dream was for a peaceful, free and prosperous state.

Okocha asked Rivers youths what their vision was in the various spheres of human endeavour and whether it was in synch with the dreams of the founding fathers of the state.

Hear Okocha: “What is the vision of our generation? Is this vision of our generation, howbeit in the spheres of Politics, Culture, Economic and Social, as we may identify in synch with the dreams of our fathers\forebears?”

Urging Rivers Youths to take their destiny in their own hands to fulfill the dreams of their forefathers for a prosperous state, the former Chief of Staff however appealed to them not to use violence to achieve it.

“However, the way to achieve this, is completely off the radar of crudities of violence or lawlessness, or any form of anomies whatsoever and howsoever,” he said.

He recommended programmes like the youth summit as veritable means to sensitize, conscientize and mobilize the youths for achieving the dreams.

In the papers they presented at the summit, both Dr. Gift Worlu and Dr. Charles Asuk who decried the alleged marginalization of Rivers State by the defunct Eastern Region, urged the youths to follow the new political roadmap Governor Wike had drawn for the state.

Worlu said Wike had seen the political light, stressing that Rivers youths should do whatever he tells them as regards elections, particularly the Governorship  Election.

The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths who was represented by Rowland Obed White said the youths own the future and would determine what will happen in Rivers State.
