The Egi People’s Assembly (EPA) in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area has directed that all sons and daughters of the clan should return from their respective abode and vote for the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sir Siminalayi Fubara in the rescheduled guber election on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

The apex socio-cultural body of the Egi speaking people of Ogbaland, gave the directive in a communiqué issued at the end of a political summit held at Obite Civic Center on Thursday, March 9, 2023.

In the communiqué which was jointly signed by EPA President-General, Ugochukwu Orikoha and General Secretary, Vincent Ake, the group said it arrived at the decision after taking cognizance of the political future of the Egi people and what they stood to benefit should if the election is won by the PDP governorship candidate.

The EPA further agreed at the summit which was attended by traditional rulers, chiefs and elders from various communities as well as leaders of various political parties in the clan, that the choice of their daughter, Prof. (Mrs.) Ngozi Nma Odu as PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, is a huge favour done to the clan, hence it would be apposite and dream come true to support the party in this regard.

“Egi kingdom is one indivisible entity and had always presented a common front in politics in the interest of the kingdom irrespective of different political leanings.

“Prof. Ngozi Odu is a tried and tested daughter of Egi Kingdom in many political positions in the state, and beyond and has been proven to perform excellently in selfless delivery of good services for the benefit of mankind generally”, the group noted.

EPA at the summit also resolved to support the PDP candidate for the Rivers State House of Assembly, ONELGA Constituency 1, Dr. Franklin Nwabochi.

While expressing their heartfelt gratitude to Governor Nyesom Wike and the PDP for nominating and presenting their daughter, Prof. Mrs. Ngozi Odu as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate, the EPA said its support for the party in the March 18 election is total.

“All Egi sons and daughters at home and outside the kingdom are therefore directed to return home and vote for the PDP candidates in the interest of the growth and development of Ege Kingdom.

“All the four zones of Egi Kingdom, community chiefs, family heads, youth leaders and women leaders of Egi are hereby directed to hold meetings at their various categories, and pass this decision down to their respective followers with immediate effect”, the communiqué added.
