Lawmaker Hails Gov Wike, PDP For Sweeping Assembly Seats In Rivers

The lawmaker representing Opobo Nkoro Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Adonye Kelly Diri has expressed delight over the big win recorded by the Peples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recent State Assembly election in the state.

He said by winning all 32 State Assembly seats in the state, the PDP had replicated same feat it performed at the 9th Assembly.

Hon. Diri while attributing the massive Assembly win to the astuteness and leadership acumen of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, said the performance is also a testimony to the predominance of the PDP in the state.

“PDP is a peoples movement in Rivers State. It is the people’s party. When we chant our song which says that Rivers is PDP and PDP is Rivers, we are actually saying we don’t have any other party in Rivers State other than PDP.

“Our hero, Governor Wike has done extremely well.

He set the pace when he came on board in 2015. Since then, it has always been victory for the PDP in all elections in the state”, Diri enthused.

He expressed confidence that the consolidation and continuation of the New Rivers Vision is an agenda that in his words, would run like autopilot.

“Sir Siminalayi Fubara may not be the biggest politician in the sense of the word, but he is extremely intelligent. He is a man with big vision, rearing to kick the ground running.

“I believe that every Rivers man and woman would be glad to have him. He will bring his wealth of experience as a seasoned technocrat to bear.

All he needs is the support and cooperation from Rivers people”, he said.

Hon Diri said his optimism for the expected success of the incoming governor is further hinged with the choice of Sim’s Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu.

“Here we are talking of two legendary go-getters. The professor is a woman of substance trailed by success anywhere she goes.

“From her days as a Senior Lecturer of Food Microbiology & Public Health in UNIPORT, She rose through the ranks and just like her boss, Sim Fubara, she also became Permanent Secretary.

“In January 2006, she was elevated to a position of a Commissioner in the Rivers State Civil Service in the Ministry of Education where she made some remarkable progress.

“Based on their pedigrees, I have no doubt that the incoming governor and his Deputy will consolidate on the New Vision agenda of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, MON, GSSRS, PoS (Africa) and Infrastructural Icon of Nigeria”, Diri declared.
