…Seeks Protection Of Public Amenities
Ahead of the flag off of the proposed Upata market, the Nye-ishi Ele Upata Lowetu li Nye Udu Upata III of Upata Kingdom, HRM Nye Udu Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, has called for religious tolerance among all Nigerians as a prerequisite for the Kingdom’s socio-economic growth and infrastructure development.
He appealed for continued support to the Upata Traditional Council (UTC) to ensure peace and security of lives as a lead-way to development.
The traditional ruler made the call over the weekend while playing host to members of the Hausa business community, Rivers State branch, at the Udho Nye Udu Upata, Edeoha town.
He also commended the group for accepting to collaborate with members of the Upata Traditional Council in efforts to reposition for greatness .
He said the UTC considered interfacing with the group as one of the best ways to brainstorm and facilitate efforts towards the development of the market
Earlier at Ihuaba community, the monarch urged the people to assist and be in the vanguard of protecting public amenities within their community.
He made the appeal when officials from the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, at a brief event, handed over a six classroom block to him for the community. He advised the people whom he said have constant touch with the public amenities to protect them from vandals, abuse by children and mischievous adults.
Since it is the collective challenge to defend, protect and maintain all the government amenities and facilities located in communities, he challenged youths and community leaders to regard the facilities as what “belong to us, our children and children’s children.”
The construction of the six classroom block which took 13 weeks was facilitated by His Majesty, and it is equipped with standby generator, water system, ceiling fans and other tutorial materials.
