…Commences Remodeling Of High Schools
Rivers State Governo, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has again graciously demonstrated his love for education, as well as commitment to give comfort to both students and staff of schools owned and operated by the River State government.
According to the chairman of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board, Chief David Briggs, Governor Nyesom Wike has approved and awarded contracts for the remodeling and renovation of Government Secondary School, Okporowo, Ogbakiri, Enitonna High School – Borikiri, Community Secondary School, Rumuekpirikom, Community Secondary School, Rumuolumeni and Government Secondary School, Borikiri.
He disclosed that funds have been released and work was ongoing, but appealed to the contractors to adhere very strictly to the terms and conditions of the contract and also to the engineering bills of quantities to ensure that there is no disparity as to content and delivery.
Chief Briggs also stated that the board on its part has set up a monitoring committee that is made up of qualified engineers and board members to ensure job well done.
He also used the medium to call on the old students of these institutions mentioned be part of this process of monitoring so as to ensure quality delivery of the projects, noting that education is for all.
On the part of the various communities where these projects are sited, Chief Briggs admonished community leaders, chiefs, women, men and youths to secure the projects to ensure successful completion.
He re-emphasized that government would not hesitate to relocate any projects sited in any community, where violence erupted. He reminded them of the primary benefit to the host communities, adding that the government is interested in improving the educational sector and appealed to the communities to support the government.
