Kelga Ward One Ogbodo Celebrates Wike Victory
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward One, Ogbodo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State rolled out the drums over the weekend to celebrate the electoral victory of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on March 9, Governorship/State Assembly election.
The occasion which took place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ogbodo District Polling Unit witnessed a mammoth supporters of the party.
Speaking at the event, the host of the ceremony and PDP Unit 7 polling Agent, Chief Sir Goodluck Nwobike, PhD said he was overwhelmed at the outstanding victory of the governor inspite of the organized conspiracy to remove him in office at all cost, hence the event.
He explained that prior to the commencement of the 2019 general election, having been appointed a polling agent for PDP, he made a commitment to the voting population in the unit to the fact that if they deliver PDP candidates in Unit 7, that he will donate the stipend, he will receive during the exercise to be used to host members of the unit, adding that indeed the event was a promised fulfilled.
Chief Nwobike further disclosed that his original plan was to distribute the money amongst the PDP supporters but that one Mrs Mercy Okparanta suggested the organization of the victory party instead which was supported by all.
Chief Nwobike who is also a chieftain of the Wike Solidarity Movement (WSM) in the ward, stated that he would have felt guilty spending the money all alone to himself as the victory would not have been possible without everybody’s contribution and support.
In a goodwill message from a representative of the Ward Leader, Hon. Barr. Olisaeloka Tasie Amadi who was unavoidable absent appreciated the commitment of PDP members in the ward towards the success story of the party.
Addressing the crowd, the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Okparanta (aka uncle) thanked the host for showing love to the PDP family, urging everyone to follow his footstep and make his/her little contribution in the interest of the party.
Mr. Okparanta used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS (Africa) for securing his second tenure.
In likewise, the chairman extended his felicitation to the senator-elect, Sen. Thompson George Sekibo, House of Reps-elect, Hon. Boniface S. Emerengwa and House of Assembly member-elect, Hon. Anselem Oguguo for coming out victorious in the elections.
The Kelga Ward One equally used the opportunity to reaffirm their loyalty and support to the PDP course and the Wike administration while urging the governor to consolidate in his developmental strides in the State especially on the area of human capital development.
