Affirming it’s committment to support and develop economically strong and self-reliant women, Rivers State Government has through its Ministry of Women Affairs trained over 500 women in the state on enterpreneural skills and Investment opportunities in their various business endeavours.
Speaking at the training, the Permanent Secretary of Women Affairs Ministry, Mrs Atosemi Esou Teetito disclosed that the training was organised to equip women with the knowledge and information on world standards and best practices in production and packaging available in the various kind of businesses they do.
She noted that the training would expose the women to enterpreneural skills aimed at scaling-up their businesses while improving their ability to produce standard products for exportation.
The Permanent Secretary who maintained that time has come for women to develop their enterpreneural skills so as to be able to compete favourably with men in business said that the training which was done in collaboration with a non-governmental organization, Impact Her was intended to give women access to foreign Investment opportunities.
Advising the women to make good use of the training, she discloseded that the training was part of government’s efforts to develop and empower women in the state and thanked His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike for always investing in the lives of women.
Earlier, the founder of Impact Her, Ms Efe Ukala said that the organization was founded to bridge gender business -financing gap and to help African female enterpreneurs realize their full economic potentials adding that Impact Her has trained over 1500 women across Africa and has connected some to investors to help them grow their businesses.
She also hinted that the organization does that by equipping African women with the tools needed to build scalable businesses and access institutional capital and expressed hope that the training would offer to the participants the knowledge tailored towards addressing critical aspects of business needs.
