Parents Charged To Mind Schools They Send Their Children

Parents and guardians have been advised to mind the schools they enroll their children and wards, as some schools especially the privately owned ones are quack, with unqualified teachers, operating in an unhealthy environment.

An educationist and Chairman of Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Omoku Chapter, His Royal Highness Eze Sunday Obi Adah, who made the call while speaking at the 1st end of term graduation ceremony of Great Montessori International School, Mmboh Close, Obosi, Omoku, Rivers State, also described some private schools as mushrooms and money making ventures.

The Royal Father who is a member of Oba-in-Council with the Chieftaincy title of ‘EzeAkogu of Ogbaland’ commended the Director of the School, Dr. (Sir) Ahiauzu Levi Uche for establishing one of the fast growing standard private Schools in Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Area, and urged him to maintain the tempo.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion who is a former Acting Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Chief (Hon.) Frankline Amaechi Nwaobakata JP, described functional education as a bedrock of any developing society and commended Rivers State Government for re-registering private schools in the State, but appealed that it should not be used to witch-hunt perceived political opponents.

A UK-trained Medical Geneticist, Mr. Stanley Ekeuku Otoboh and other guests who spoke at the ceremony, including parents/guardians, commended the authorities and staff of Great Montessori International School for their effective management of the institution and urged them to continue in that spirit.

In his speech, the Director of the School, Dr. (Sir) Ahiauzu Levi Uche, who is also the Head of Department, Accounting Education, Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku, noted that the school has since its establishment, maintained zero tolerance for social vices, especially extortion of money from parents/pupils, adding that in no distant time, the school will move to its permanent site and assured parents that the school will continue to excel academically.

In his vote of thanks, the Head of Administration, Great Montessori International School, Omoku, Mr. Miracle Oburu thanked the guests for gracing the occasion and also commended the Director of the School, Dr. L. U.  Ahiauzu for his love for upbringing of the children educationally.

The ceremony which featured presentation of prizes/awards, award of scholarships, drama and sing-songs, was graced by people from all walks of life including the Eze Odu of Ogbaland, Chief Innocent Obi Igwe, the Chief Whip, ONELGA legislative Assembly, Hon. Orator Adiela, a former Councilor in ONELGA, Hon. Edwin Adah, the Pastor in charge, Salvation Baptist Church, Obosi, Omoku, Rev. Azubuike Osi, parents, guardians, friends of the school and others.
