UNIPORT Refutes Alleged Arrest Of  Students By EFCC

The authorities of the University of Port Harcourt has denied reports making the rounds that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested four of its students for their alleged involvement in a cybercrime.

The university in a statement signed by Public Relation Officer (PRO), Mr. Sam Kpenu, described the report as erroneous as none of its students were ever arrested as claimed by the reports.

The statement stated categorically that the persons arrested were not students of the University of Port Harcourt, adding that the university has gone through its records and no such names were found in the record book of the University of Port Harcourt.

“The University of Port Harcourt is not a breeding ground for criminals but a towering citadel of learning that turns out polished products who are making waves all around the globe”, it declared.

The University frowned on what it said was an attempt to paint it in bad light through reckless reports, dissociating itself from the report it described as false.  The university called on the general public to disregard the report which according to them, is aimed at smearing the good image of the University.

They further advised the media to always carry out thorough investigation before rolling out what it said has embarrassing reports to the public.
