An House of Assembly aspirant and Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Akpor Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon. George Omah, has said that he will defeat Hon. Michael Chinda in the forthcoming 2019 General Elections to represent Obio/Akpor Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly. Hon. Michael Chinda currently represents Obio/Akpor Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Omah, who stated this in an interview with journalists after submitting his Expression of Interest Form at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party on Aba Road, Port-Harcourt on Thursday, 6 September, said that he is qualified to run for the Obio/Akpor Constituency II seat, saying that he will defeat Hon. Chinda who is serving a second term as lawmaker representing the constituency.
The House of Assembly aspirant said that it is only Rumuokwarali, where he is from, that has not produced a lawmaker to represent the people of the constituency.
He lamented that those who represented the constituency misused the opportunity given them, promising that he will provide good representation for the people of the constituency if he is elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly.
According to him, he will carry out empowerment programmes for the people of the constituency, make the office youth-friendly and make laws for the good of the people in Obio/Akpor Constituency II, if he is elected.
He stated that the current representative of the people of the constituency has not brought dividends of democracy to the people.
Meanwhile, a Port-Harcourt based popular musician, Duncan Mighty, has said that he endorse the aspiration of Hon. George Omah to become a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, describing the aspirant as popular and youth-friendly.
According to him, it will be difficult for anyone to defeat the aspirant, saying that his popularity and good works will bring him victory in the forthcoming election.
The Port-Harcourt based artiste who spoke at a mega rally organized by the group, Ikwerre Alive, at the weekend in Choba, Port-Harcourt, said that it was time for the youths of Ikwerre ethnic nationality to come up with good ideas to help themselves and become useful members of the society and called on the government to support youths with noble ideas to grow.
This was as another artiste, Daddy Boy, and the Ikwerre Alive group, also endorsed Hon. Omah for the House of Assembly election.
The National President of the Ikwerre Alive group, Comrade Bright Okey Chinda, while speaking with journalists at the event, said that the group has endorsed the House of Assembly aspirant, who is also a grand patron of the group.
The National President said that Hon. Omah has contributed to the peace and security of Akpor kingdom and needs to be elected to represent the people of Obio/Akpor Constituency II.
