…Says Party Will Have Smooth Victory

The choice of a business man, Mr. Dele Patrick Cole, as the Rivers State governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election has been described as an advantage for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was the opinion of the Grassroot Development Initiatives (GDI) President, Chief Bright C. Amaewhule, in a chat with newsmen over the weekend in Port Harcourt.
According to him, “the choice of Dele Cole will definitely boost the chances of the PDP candidate because this is a man who does not even know the capital of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area or the name of the Traditional Rulers’ Chairman of the State.
“He might be a successful businessman but certainly not a politician and so his god-father, Rotimi Amaechi, has a limit where he will direct him to or the level he will spoon feed him”, he said.
Chief Amaewhule made it clear that not even the harassment or intimidation of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) will help the APC’s quest to get the Rivers State, noting that “What the APC-led Federal Government is trying to do is to push out Governor Nyesom Wike at all cost and recover the State, even when it is glaring that they have not performed”.
The GDI President, however, made it known that no amount of intimidation will deter the PDP or Governor Wike, who is globally acknowledged as the best performing governor in Nigeria, to realize his second term ambition, adding that election is all about the electorate voting their conscience and the candidates that have impressed them and not by violently rigging the election with security agents.
He stated that Rivers people will resist the impunity of the APC this time around to manipulate the election in its favour.
On why the GDI has been quiet for some time now, Amaewhule explained that it’s own campaign organization is superior to other ones due to its population, structure and strategies, no wonder its successes.
“We just gave others chance to showcase what they have but when GDI resumes, you will see the difference”.
Our sensitization strategy is massive and deeply rooted. From 2011 till date, we have done marvelously well,” he stated.
He, however, made it clear that for those decamping from PDP to APC, they are being intimidated or teleguided to do so under pressure, while those coming back to PDP are naturally returning into their home, having seen that there is no hope in the sinking boat of the APC.
Chief Amaewhule also assured that all the PDP candidates in the State and at the Federal level must win the 2019 general elections irrespective of the APC manipulation, due to the ‘superlative performance’ of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
