Why Atiku, Nwanosike Insist Buhari Should Quit

Discerning Nigerians who have noticed the body language of President Muhammadu Buhari which seems to suggest that he would not leave office, have warned that he should  be ready to quit if defeated in next year’s presidential election.

Samuel Nwanosike, chairman, Ikwerre Local Government Area, who is one of those nursing these fears, has come out to advise President Buhari not to stay a day longer than necessary if he is floored in the forthcoming presidential election.

He called on the President to take a cue from former President Goodluck Jonathan, who congratulated him (Buhari) when the election results had not been announced fully and a winner declared.

Nwanosike said Jonathan demonstrated magnanimity and statesmanship by that singular action, saying Buhari should emulate him by leaving office after next year’s presidential election.

The Ikwerre Council boss, who was at a GDI event went a step further by advising the president to organize a free and fair election devoid of manipulation, saying if he did, he would write his name in gold.

On his part, Bright Amaewhule, President-General, Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) said PDP would win the 2019 Presidential election, warning that any attempt to manipulate it would result in chaos.

Atiku, now presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), had earlier in far away London warned that president Buhari was not favourably disposed to leaving office unless he is forced out.

Other prominent Nigerians had equally commented on President Buhari’s alleged sit-tight attitude, basing their comments on the man’s body language and elections that took place in other States which appeared to have been manipulated in favour of APC, which the president allowed to stand.

Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections which PDP candidates allegedly won, which was later manipulated in favour of APC candidates provided proofs to the commentators that Buhari may not quit if he loses the election.

“But it would be disastrous and could lead to anarchy” the commentators said.
