As the 2019 General Elections draw closer, a group known as Atiku/Obi Vanguard has pledged their unflagging of commitment for the success of the presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, and other candidates of the party come 2019.
The Rivers State Director -General of the group, Chief Paworiso Horsfall, made the pledge when the group paid a familiarization visit to the State Chairman of the party, Bro Felix Obuah, in his office in Port Harcourt.
Mr. Horsfall, who pledged the loyalty of the group to the PDP, said they are poised to take back the centre from the ‘underperforming’, All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forth coming polls.
He said, “we have come here today to familiarize with the leadership of the party and to ensure that our candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, our performing Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike and all other candidates of the party are returned in 2019”.
Horsfall, who was a former governorship candidate in the State, noted that the talk on the lips of many Nigerians are “Atiku, please come”, adding that his group has come to join force with executive governor who is the leader of the Atiku/Obi mandate in the South-South to ensure that the task of delivering the party’s presidential candidate is achieved.
Responding, the State Chairman of the party, Bro. Felix Obuah, thanked the group for coming and assured them that they would be integrated into the mainstream of the party’s activities.
Obuah, who noted that the current APC government has brought untold hardship on the Nigerians, said Atiku Abubakar and Dr. Peter Obi are men of proven integrity and experience both in political and economic sectors and would better the economy of the country, if elected.
He stated the task before the party to deliver and take back power at the centre is not an easy one. He therefore, urged the group not to relent but to go out and canvass for votes for all the candidates of the party.
He maintained, “we welcome you on board, you have come to assist us deliver on our mandate, the party depends on members to go and win elections.” Furthermore, he said, “with Atiku and Obi on board, Nigeria can start working again”.
In her vote of thanks at the occasion, the South-South Director-General of the group, Dr. Wanimi Princewill, thanked the party Chairman for opening his doors for them and assured him of the group cooperation and support in achieving the task ahead.
