INEC Ad-hoc Staff Urged To Resist Manipulation

Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Engr Chukwuemeka Woke has charged staff and students of universities and tertiary institutions who will serve as adhoc staff during the 2019 General elections not to allow themselves to be used for the manipulation of the polls.

He urged them to be firm and ensure that they contribute their quota towards credible elections.

He also called on the newly inaugurated Post-graduate Students Association of the Rivers State University to work with the management of the institution to attract more projects.

“INEC will draw her adhoc staff from tertiary institutions and federal parastatals. This is an opportunity for lecturers and staff to work towards credible polls. Don’t be intimidated.  Be firm and do what is right “, he told the University community.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the University on Monday, Engr Chukwuemeka Woke said that post-graduate students operate on a higher  pedestal, hence they must assist their school.

He said under the supervision of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Rivers State University has introduced new programmes and constructed new facilities to enhance teaching and learning.

He said: “You should not be involved in partisan politics. Explore all opportunities to attract development to the school.

“Work to attract resources from the NDDC because it has the mandate to develop institutions in the Niger Delta.

“With proper stakeholder engagement, you can attract a lot to this school. Use your wealth of experience to see how you can promote the institution “.

In his remarks, Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Prof Blessing Didia urged the new post-graduate students body to work with the management for the attainment of developmental objectives.

The Dean of Student Affairs of the University, Prof Isaac Zeb-Obipi said that the leadership of the association emerged through a credible process.
