Ahead Of 2019 General Elections: Hold APC Responsible For Any Violence In Rivers State

With the 2019 general elections only a few weeks away, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has raised an alarm over threats by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State to disrupt the exercise by unleashing mayhem on the State, should any of its candidates be delisted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The PDP in a statement by the State Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah expressed worries that with such threats coming from a party currently enmeshed in internal crisis, made worse by unfavorable court judgments ahead of an important election, it certainly calls for concern and would not be swept under the carpet.
Obuah, in the statement, said the fears of the PDP stemmed from APC’s outbursts contained in a press statement now trending in the social media wherein the Rivers APC has threatened that blood would flow in the State in the event that APC candidates are prevented from participating in the February elections.
The Rivers PDP Chairman said the party is also aware of several clandestine meetings that are being held by the APC within and outside the State with a view to disrupting the elections and cause chaos in the State.
Bro. Obuah said the APC has threatened to use whatever means at their disposal to stop the general elections from holding in Rivers State unless INEC tenders unreserved apology for delisting APC candidates in the State, for the 2019 general elections.
“To quote the APC’s threat in their statement, “Let INEC, the Judiciary and Nigerians be told that blood will spill as a result of their action or inaction”. How else could this statement be deduced other than a premeditated, deliberate and willful desire to foment trouble and spill the blood of innocent Rivers people?” Bro. Obuah queried.
According to him, these same APC elements were the same who plundered the resources of Rivers State for eight years and left the people impoverished.
“What exactly are they scheming for? We know their plots: They want the courts closed again as Rotimi Amaechi, their leader did where courts were shut down for over a year. They want the Assembly gates padlocked again. They want cultists to take over our towns and villages again. But their plot will fail because we have a God-sent Governor who has wisdom against their foolishness”, Obuah said.
The State PDP Chairman called on Rivers people to resist the evil machinations of the APC, whom he described as drowning ducks, and urged them to remain peaceful and ensure they vote massively for Governor Wike’s reelection and all PDP candidates.
Warning that the Rivers APC should be held responsible for any violence in the State during or after the election, Bro. Obuah appealed to law enforcement agencies, especially the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), to be proactive and put the activities of the APC under watch.
