Hon Ogbonna, Confident To Clinch R/East Senatorial Seat
Hon. Barr. Clay Nduka Ogbonna who is the candidate for the Rivers East Senatorial District under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party says he is confident to clinch the seat in the forthcoming general election in order to contribute meaningfully to the rescue mission of Nigeria.
He stated this in Port Harcourt during the electioneering campaign of his party.
He said that though they might not have money to throw around like the other two political parties, the ADC has a better ideology peopled by those with integrity to honestly steer the ship of the State aright.
Barr. Ogbonna however said his party is a member of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) that is also supporting the aspiration of former Vice President, and PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to rescue the country from the brink of collapse.
According to him, besides the PDP and APC, ADC is the third force in this election that will pull surprise at the polls.
On whether ADC has confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free, fair and credible election, Barr. Ogbonna said there is no alternative to the commission “Politics is like war and one goes to war with the army he has”, adding that all the people need to do is to encourage them to do the right thing.
He made it clear that the votes and party agents should be vigilante and ensure that their votes are counted and protected until they are collated and entered properly.
The ADC senatorial candidate disclosed further that it is not possible for one to rig election where he/she is not popular.
Barr. Ogbonna made it clear that if he lost the election clearly, he will take it in good faith but would only do so to court if it is clear that he was rigged out.
He however used the opportunity to warn the security agencies to stay clear and restrict their assignment to the protection of lives and property and not to assist any political party to achieve victory, which he noted will cause unnecessary crisis.
On the 20 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria, he noted that the country has not done very bad, adding that it is a long process that has seem the actors staggering and falling. He however assured that Nigeria will eventually get there.
Barr. Ogonna assured that democracy is the most conceivable and best form of government for now that will ensure the most representational government and it builds up through longer time evaluation of the APC-federal government the senatorial candidate said they have not done well in terms of security to the collective “The Federal Government should be alive to its responsibility, people are suffering”.
He however was optimistic that the electorate will use their PVC’s to elect credible leaders that would replace the present administrators.
