Barry Mpigi Alerts Public Over Syndicate Using His Name To Defraud

The Senator-elect for Rivers South East Senatorial District, Hon. Barry Mpigi has, raised alarm over criminal activities of suspected syndicates who may be using his name to defraud unsuspecting members of the general public.
Mpigi in a statement signed by his media aide, Joe A. Gwezia said the fraudster, one Golden O. Onyeche is using two fake Facebook and Facebook Messenger Accounts of Hon. Barry Mpigi.
The Senator-elect stated that the two Facebook and Facebook Messenger Accounts bearing his pictures and address are fake and a calculated attempt to deceive and defraud members of the public.
He said the fraudster is using his name through phony Facebook Accounts to send messages through Facebook Messenger to unsuspecting people, requesting them to pay the sum of N10,800 into a FCMB account No. 5485588017 with Account Name: Golden O. Onyeche for job placement at Shell and other oil companies.
Hon. Mgipi added that the victims were requested to pay money into the phony FCMB account for the purpose of ‘facilitating’ their application for the ‘Shell’ job.
The Rivers South East Senator-elect who said he could not tell for how long the fraudsters had carried on their criminal activities, revealed that he only got to know about it when some of those who were sent those messages drew the attention of his aides to their plight.
Hon. Barry Mpigi noted that the said Golden O. Onyeche is using all available social media platforms, including fake Facebook and Facebook Messenger Accounts, answering different names depending on the status of his victims and fraud style at that time.
According to him, the fake names of the said Golden O. Onyeche include Engr. James with phone no. 09032634954, Dr. Lawson and Engr. Alex.
“The general public is advised to be wary of the kind of text messages they attend to and accounts they pay money into. Anyone who has been contacted by this criminal using my name, to ask for money or to pay money into any account, should immediately report to security agencies”, Hon. Mpigi directed.
“The general public is hereby warned not to transact any business with the said Facebook Accounts as anyone who does so is doing so at his or her own risk”, he said.
