Iriebe Estate Allottees Risk Revocation Over Non-Payment

Over 250 allottees of the Iriebe Housing Estate in Rivers State stand the risk of losing the allocation due to their inability to pay their mortgage payment as agreed with the Rivers State Housing and Property Development Authority (RSHPDA).

The General Manager of the agency, Arc Iyerefa S. Cookey-Gam who disclosed this while speaking with journalists in office in Port Harcourt on Thursday, said arrangements have been concluded to revoke the allocation of defaulting occupants of the estate who fail to meet up their payment within the 30 days deadline given by the agency.

He stated that many of the allottees of the Iriebe Housing Estate were not faithful in the payment of their mortgage, adding that such situation was against the memorandum of understanding (MOU) entered by the affected allottees on both the mortgage and the sale of the property.

According to him, RSHPDA has concluded all arrangements to implement without further delay the terms of sale and mortgage by cancelling the allocation of defaulters, adding that once any allocation has been cancelled, such property, he said, would be made available to other interested State workers and other members of the public.

The RSHPDA boss advised the allottees to visit the office to reconcile their various payment with the agency before the expiration of the deadline given to avoid unpleasant tr4eatment.

“All retired public servants who do not have irrevocable standing payment order deposited with the authority but have received their terminal benefit shall lose their allocation at the expiration of the 30 days notice given”, he added.

He further waned allottees and occupants of Elekahia, Rumuibekwe, Rumuobiakani, Presidential Phase I and II, Ndoki, Aggrey, Marine Base and Iriebe housing Estates who engage in the unwholesome act of carrying an illegal development to revert to the original master plan of the buildings in the various estates, or be prepared to face sanctions from the agency.
