TIMI Alaibe, former managing director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has purchased nomination form to contest governorship of Bayelsa State later this year.
The PDP governorship nomination forms carries a price tag of N20,000,000.
Alaibe, who was an aspirant four years ago under the aegis of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is seeking the office of Nigeria’s smallest state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bayelsa is an oil producing state in the Niger Delta region.
The former managing director of NDDC, generally regarded as the best governor Bayelsa is yet to have, is known to have aspired for the office since 1999. He has been a major political force in Bayelsa and indeed the Niger Delta since the start of the 4th Republic.
Alaibe is reputed to be the brain behind the Federal Government Amnesty Programme for the Niger Delta militants.
The election to replace Gov. Seriake Dickson is scheduled to hold in November 2019. A former governor of the state is rumoured to be a strong contender for the APC ticket. Alaibe had been an aspirant for the same office four years ago on the platform of APC but dropped out before the Primaries.
