Ex-Gov’s Son, Senator Join Kogi, Bayelsa Guber Race
The son of a former Governor of Kogi State, (Alh Ibrahim Idris), Abdullahi has formally joined the governorship race in the state, as he on Wednesday picked the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
Abubakar, after collecting the forms, upon the payment of N21million, pledged that if elected governor, he would work towards the provision of jobs for youths in the state rather than arming them with guns.
Also yesterday, another aspirant from Bayelsa State and serving senator , Mr Diri Douye collected the PDP’s nomination and expression of interest forms, promising to improve on the standard of education in the state by consolidating on the standard already said in that area by Governor Seriake Dickson of the state.
On the issue of creating jobs in Kogi State, if he is elected the next governor, Abubakar said, “What we should be doing is rather than giving them guns, is giving them jobs. And if we sit by the fence and do nothing, nothing will happen. And someone has got to take the lead.
I’m particularly not happy when you look at it that critically that my state has become what it is.
“The state has undergone both human and infrastructural decay over the last three and half years.
“There have been the issues of salaries, pension, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture to mention a few.
“We are now faced with a state that has so much problems. And that has necessitated my coming in to throw my hat into the ring so that we could make and change the narrative of what is going on presently in my state”, he said.
