Women Receive Accolades For Role As Mothers Of Society

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says Mothering Sunday is celebrated to acknowledge the role of Women and Mothers in society.

Dr. Banigo stated this during the year 2022, Mothering Sunday Service at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt on Sunday, 27 March 2022.

Dr. Banigo acknowledged the fact that it was important for Christian Mothers to come together on a day like this to thank God for giving them the opportunity to be a blessing to mankind which according to her is the essence of the Mothering Day Celebration.

The Deputy Governor, who was also, the Guest Preacher assured Christians that the Almighty God was desirous to help them, whenever they diligently seek His help, noting that it is only by God that one can get help, and we can always get Him when we call on Him.

“I want to tell you that it always hurts God when we seek man in place of Him, beloved if we seek God the way we seek human connections our search and struggle will be over. There are people who look up to men that they lose their trust in God, I pray, that will not be our portion.” She stressed.

Dr. Banigo said there are requirements to get God’s help, stressing that  God would not help the evildoer.

“If you are working in sin, God will not help you, sin is one thing that God will not associate with Himself, because He is a pure God, so whatsoever sin in our lives, we have to forsake them if you forsake your sin, God is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. She said.

Dr. Banigo who urged Christians to remember that our God is a jealous God said as His Bride He looks over us with His loving eyes, adding that He wants us to ask for His advice and for His strengthening in every situation.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Our Help Cometh from the Lord”, drawn from Psalm 121:2 Highlights of the occasion were the presentation of awards and gifts and special thanksgiving by the Mothers.
