Ahead of Wike’s 100 Days in Office: Let politicians Close Ranks For Development Of Rivers State
Barrister Golden Tamuno, a legal practitioner has called on politicians in the state to reunite for common good. According to him, governor Wike’s Olive Branch to opposition must be taken seriously. He stated this on the heels of the approaching 100 days in office of the second term administration of Governor Nyesom Wike.
Barr, Tamuno who spoke in an interview with our reporter stated that the time had come for the political juggernauts in the state to jettison politics and rally for the development of the state. He warned politicians to learn from past, saying “don’t do everything within your powers to circumvent justice.” He said that opposition were first citizens of the state.
On the second term performance of governor Wike, he remarked that while many in his shoes had swayed aside, the governor had continued to keep the steam, especially based on his pronouncements on assumption of office for the second term noting that the governor went far as giving timeline for the accomplishment of some of the projects at hand.
On security matters, he said the governor had taken drastic steps in order to achieve results. He reasoned that government may not be right at all times, but if its intention was to protect lives and property and improve the lives of the citizens that should be commended.
He gave kudos to the governor for ensuring safety and security in areas once thought to be deadly, citing the example of the East West road that used to be a no-go-area because of criminal activities in the past. He expressed confidence that people can move freely around the state.
He called on all and sundry to trust the governor’s assurance through the olive branch he extended to members of the opposition in the state for sustainable peace to reign.
