It was the end of the road for three suspected robbers Sunday night as they were arrested by members of Diobu vigilante Godstime Ihunwo, the Chief Security Officer of Rumuelechi Street, while allegedly attempting to rape their female victim at National/Elechi street, Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt.
Mr Ihunwo who confirmed the incident told our reporter that he received a distress call about the robbery operation by residents of the area and quickly swung into action.
The leader of the three man robbery gang, ‘Chikere’ confessed that they were attempting to rape the female victim Sotonye Chioma after robbing her before they were caught.
He pleaded for forgiveness as he does not want to go to prison.
The female victim, who came from Abia state to visit a friend explained to our reporter that the three suspects accosted her and robbed her of her Phone and money worth four thousand naira after which they started dragging her to a dark spot and commanded her to remove her clothes before the vigilante members came to her rescue.
We gathered the suspects have been handed over to the Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters at Mile 3, Diobu.
The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, SP Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident and subsequent arrest of the suspects.
