APC Stakeholder Commends Gov Wike For Embarking On Flyover Bridges In PH

The former Special Adviser on interparty matters to the immediate past Rivers State governor, Chief (Hon) Williams Igweh has commended governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike over what he called his pragmatic leadership, adding that the embarkment of the three major flyover bridges is a lofty projects that would benefit Rivers people and residents.

He stated this in a chat with newsmen during the flagging off of the two flyover bridges at Rumuogba Junction of the PH/Aba expressway on Tuesday October 22, 2019.

The APC chieftain stated that “if governor Wike will be able to complete these three gigantic projects in the stipulated time, “he would have written his name in gold for Rivers people,” as the projects would engender confidence to investors and would be investors”.

Chief Igweh who is the Onu-Mbam I of Rumuogba kingdom as well as the Traditional Prime Minster, made it clear that what again that should occupy the governor’s attention should be the improvement of education, health and security sectors.

“The governor is trying his best but he needs to step up action especially on the security sector as we still witness cases of kidnapping and criminality despite his laudable efforts.

Chief Igweh said another area that needs urgent attention is the empowerment of the youths because according to him, when they are engaged, criminality will drastically reduced if not totally eradicated.

He also used the opportunity to appeal to his fellow politicians to play by the rules and ensure that the interest and welfare of the people comes first in all they do or say.

“Politicians should be able to improve the peoples welfare with their given mandate not using it to suppress their subjects or for selfish purposes.”

The monarch also urged political and opinion leaders to ensure the separation of powers and independence of the three arms of governments namely; executives, judiciary and legislature in the interest of the nation.

“It is important that the oversight functions are strictly observed to ensure probity and accountability in the system”.

It is also important that court orders are strictly obeyed, if we must move forward as a nation,” he noted.

On Governor Wike’s extension of olive branch to the opposition political parties, Chief Igweh said it is a welcome development if he will implement the policy to the letter, stressing that now is the time for governance and needs every hands on deck.
