The Chairman of Andoni Local Government Council, Hon Erastus Charles Awortu (Esq), has described the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as the Liberator of Andoni.
Hon. Awortu stated this during a Thanksgiving Service at the Methodist Church Nigeria in Asarama Town, Andoni for successfully assuming office as Council Chairman on June 17th 2021 following his landslide electoral victory at the April 17th Council Poll in the State.
The event which attracted top Rivers State Government functionaries as well as the political elites of Andoni was also a Thanksgiving for the amiable Wife of the Andoni Council Chairman, Professor (Mrs.) Beatrice E. Awortu, for her academic achievements.
The Andoni Council Chairman while addressing the congregation assured the people of Andoni that Governor Wike will continue to keep faith with them while also assuring the Governor that the people of Andoni will not betray him.
He declared that come what may the people of Andoni will remain loyal and supportive of the Leadership style and political ideology of Governor Wike.
“I want to specially ask Andoni people to join me to thank His Excellency Governor Nyesom Wike who is the Liberator of Andoni.
“I know that through him all the things that Andoni has lost would be replenished in double fold.
“He is going to keep faith with Andoni people because Andoni people will never betray him.
“We are going to stand with him to make sure that he does the right thing for the state and for our people. We are going to call his attention when necessary”, he said.
The Andoni Council Boss also declared that Andoni shall not be ravaged anymore by insecurity.
He noted that Andoni has gone through difficult times while expressing optimism that with payers Andoni would be great again.
“I ask for your prayers, specifically I want everyone to continue to pray for Andoni. We have gone through difficult times or probably we are going through difficult times but with payers I believe that everything will be right, the Land would be good for us to enjoy.
We shall go home without looking behind us whether somebody is coming after us or whether somebody is carrying machete.
We shall enjoy our Land peacefully and Andoni shall be different from any other Land. We shall not be ravaged again by insecurity”.
The Andoni Council Chairman Erastus Awortu attributed the prevailing peace and security in Andoni since he assumed office to divine intervention.
He urged the people particularly the youths to look up to God as the only source of strength and promotion.
“Today is a special day which the Lord has made for us to give thanks for all He has done for us, to me as a person, my Wife and family, and of course the Andoni people. I want to thank God very sincerely, it is not that I have not been thanking God, every day awake up I give thanks to God for being alive and for the things
He has done for me, and for the days leading into my election as well as my few days in governance. Let me say that I’m among those that have seen God because I have seen the works of God.
Since assuming office as Council Chairman all the upheavals, all the problems that Andoni has been facing have been on the decrease, the place is now calm because God has taken control, if that is not seeing God I don’t know what else is seeing God. It shows that God has taken control of the Land and I know that it would be permanent in Jesus name, Amen.
“I will continue to thank God, I decided to thank God publicly for people to know my source and for everybody to be encouraged that there is no other source that can elevate you except the Lord Almighty.
I have come to acknowledge God publicly and to let the people know that God is the source of my strength, my promotion and the peace that we are enjoying today in Andoni. I urge everyone to look up to God, I urge the younger ones to look up to God.
I’m doing this so that you will know that there is no promotion in any other source other than God. Sometimes you go to many places and you think you are getting promotion, it is because God has allowed you to get promotion, not because any power has promoted you, so always give glory to God, stop wasting you money and time in worshipping other gods because they have no effect”, Awortu posited.
In her remarks, the Wife of the Andoni Council Chairman who is a Professor of History and Diplomatic Studies at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port-Harcourt, Mrs. Beatrice E. Awortu expressed profound appreciation to all those who contributed immensely to her journey of academic excellence whilst describing them in glowing terms.
Earlier in his sermon, the officiating Minister Bishop Friday Jephthah admonished the gathering on the place of God in achieving sustainable peace and good governance.
