Ekiti, Osun Scenario Won’t Happen In Oyo ― Makinde
…Says APC only fighting for survival
In the wake of Monday’s Appeal Court ruling Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde has allayed fears of his electoral victory being upturned like it once happened in Ekiti and Osun states.
Makinde who stated this when hundreds of residents, who were on a solidarity march, visited state governor’s office, Ibadan, on Tuesday, said the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) was only fighting for survival.
According to Makinde, the result of the March 9, 2019 governorship showed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was accepted across board in the state, while the APC was roundly rejected.
Mentioning that his mandate as governor, Makinde said he remained undeterred in running governance while urging residents to remain calm.
“Does this place look like Osun? Does this place look like Ekiti? Be rest assured, your votes at the election was enormous and gave us victory and since we came to government we have been serving you.
“They won’t spoil our show. There is nothing that has happened to your mandate. Your mandate is intact. If they claim they have won, why didn’t they report to Government House this morning?
“They were rejected everywhere in Oyo State. They were rejected in Ibadan, Oyo, Ibarapa, Oke Ogun, Ogbomosho, so what else can they do.
“Please I beg of you, I am appealing to you, be law-abiding, we will continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to you.
“Please, lets us continue in our business and place of occupational engagement without any fear because you have no reason to be. Be rest assured. We know they are only fighting for survival,” Makinde said.
Leader of the supporters, Mr Kehinde Nojeemdeen, in his remarks, bemoaned that the ruling of the appeal court was wrongly perceived by several people.
He also described as worrisome that the opposition had gone to town with false information regarding the ruling.
Nojeemdeen avowed that residents of the state believed in the purposefulness of Makinde and will continue to stand by his government.
Some of the inscription written on the cardboards held by those on the solidarity march included, “GSM till 2027”, “In GSM we trust”, “Free Education, free health”‘ “Pensioners and civil service liberators”, “GSM our saviour” and “GSM, Oyo stands behind you.”
