Police Nab  Hotel Robbery Gang

A four man robbery gang said to be responsible for several robbery operations in some guest houses and hotels in Port Harcourt has been nabbed and are being detained at Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Rupokwu, Port Harcourt.

The suspects simply identified as Okechukwu, Otoye, Dennis and Ngeribo were alleged to have robbed two female guests at a popular guest house on Ekwe street, Mile 3 Diobu in one of their recent operations.

We gathered that following  investigation, three out of the four members of the gang were arrested last week Friday at about 19:50PM in Diobu by the local vigilante when they were reportedly planning to strike at another guest house in Port Harcourt.

Our source disclosed that the suspects were handed over to F-SARS where they are undergoing interrogation.

The fourth member of the gang known as Ngeribo  is being detained at Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters at Diobu over another robbery incident.

Efforts are on to transfer the said Ngeribo to headquarters of F-SARS, sources revealed.

A member of the Rumu Elechi vigilante group revealed that the suspects have reportedly admitted to the crime claiming that Otoye is the owner of all the guns they use in operation.

It was also alleged that the robbery gang rape their female victims after disposing them of their belongings.

The youth President of Rumu-Elechi community, Godstime Ihunwo confirmed the arrest of the suspects to our reporter. He added that some of the mobile phones the suspects carted away from their latest victims, Joy and Anita were recovered from them.

A Police officer who did not want his name in print  confirmed the detention of the three members of the gang at F-SARS and the fourth member at Nkpolu Police Divisional headquarters.
