COVID-19 Palliatives: Kudos For Gov Wike As Khana People Receive Foodstuffs

Leaders and people of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State have celebrated the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for distributing Palliatives to all the wards of the area.

Clerics, traditional rulers, women leaders , youth leaders and community development committees from the 19 wards of the Local Government Area converged at Bori to receive and convey their foodstuffs to the downtrodden.

(Ward 1) said that the entire Local Government Area appreciates Governor Wike for the quantity of food distributed to them.

Rev. Goodluck N. Aziaka (Ward 19) assured the Rivers State Governor that they will ensure that the foodstuffs are shared in line with the Governor’s directive.  

Governor Wike extended to the 19 wards: 1900 bags of rice , 1900 bags of Garri, 19,000 Tubers of Yams ,  1900 Cartons of Pasta and 95 Gallons of Palm Oil .

Member Representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Dum Dekor thanked the Rivers State Governor for reaching out to the less privileged in the 19 wards of Khana Local Government Area. 

Hon. Dee Yah Bariene , Deputy Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly said the people of the area will continue to support Governor Wike who has proved to be caring leader.

Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Lahteh Loolo praised Governor Wike for distributing foodstuffs in large quantities for the people of Khana LGA.

He said that the people of Khana Local Government Area are overwhelmed with the governor’s show of love at this time when the less privileged need intervention. 

Speaking at the event, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike represented by the Chairman of the Rivers State COVID-19 Palliatives Committee , Ambassador Desmond Akawor emphasised that the foodstuffs are meant for those who cannot afford it.

 He said that his administration involved religious leaders, women leaders and community development committees to ensure that no less privileged person is denied access to the foodstuffs. 

Governor Wike stated that the foodstuffs are meant for all those residing in the local Government Area, irrespective of the political party that they belong to. 

The Governor urged the people to always observe the established health protocols of regular hand wash, use of face masks and hand sanitizer to check the spread of coronavirus in the state.

Rivers State Council of NUJ Chairman, Stanley Job, Meshack Uyi, Representative of the Civil Society in Rivers State ,Pastor Jerry Needam, Chairman, Rivers State Independent Publishers Association, RIVPA, representing Publishers in Rivers State, Segun Owolabi, Representative of Port Harcourt Radio Stations and Mr Wilson Egufe, Correspondent of Vanguard Newspapers,  representing Federated Chapel of the NUJ witnessed the distribution of the foodstuffs to the people of Khana Local Government Area.
