Suspect In Police Net As Death Toll In Diobu Gang War Rises To Three

A suspected cultist whose identity is yet to be made known is helping the Rivers State Police Command in investigation as alleged supremacy battle between suspected Iceland and Deygbam cult members in Mile 3 Diobu was reported to have claimed three lives, National Network gathered.

Our reporter learned that the suspected cultist was arrested when his gang was confronted by vigilante group at Ekwe Street Mile 3 Diobu during a failed reprisal attack on their rival. Our source revealed that other members of the group fled from the scene but the suspect was arrested by the vigilante who handed him over to Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters in Diobu.

Meanwhile, sources said an Iceland cult member was reportedly shot dead at Mile 3 axis of Ikwerre road last week Thursday evening by rival cult members after ,a suspected Deygbam cult member known as Saidu Waisu was allegedly rounded up by suspected Iceland cult members at Obguagu/Wokoma Street Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt that Thursday morning and stabbed severally.

The source disclosed that the suspected cultist managed to escape and was rushed to a private hospital but reportedly died on arrival at the hospital.

our reporter gathered learned that his fellow cult members quickly evacuated his corpse with an ambulance to an unknown destination.

National Network had reported how one Chisco Uzoma, a suspected Iceland cult member was killed by suspected Deygbam cult members at Ekwe Street Mile 3 Diobu last Monday over alleged collection of ‘marching ground’ fee from illegal market operating at Ekwe, National and Ikom Streets.

Godstime Ihunwo, Chief Security Officer of Rumu-Elechi vigilante group confirmed the arrest of the suspected cultist while adding that he heard of the Thursday killings.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) Nnamdi Omoni who had earlier confirmed the killing of Chisco Uzoma said he was not aware of the last week Thursday killings.

He promised to get back to our reporter after speaking with the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) of the station in the area but was yet to do so at press time.
