Security Tightened As Cultists Re-group Over Killing Of Member

Security is said to be tightened at Timber, Echue streets and adjoining water front communities in Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt following reported death of a suspected cultist/armed robber at Timber water front Mile 11, Diobu,Port Harcourt on last week Saturday.

We learned that the suspect an alleged member of the Deygbam confraternity, whose identity is yet unknown reportedly robbed a pregnant woman of her handset and money.

The source revealed that some factional members of the same cult group who were not happy with the robbery incident, seized the suspect and instead of handing him over to the Police subjected him to severe torture as a way of teaching him lesson, a development that reportedly led to his death.

Consequently, the death of the deceased cult member saw the regrouping by members of his faction who went in search of the members of the opposing faction, said to be responsible for his death.

But the timely intervention of the Diobu Vigilante Group, we gathered, prevented the crisis from escalating.

Secretary of Diobu Vigilante, Prince Amatari confirmed the incident to our reporter adding that the vigilante group and other security agencies have been patrolling all the waterfronts in Mile 1 and 2 Diobu to forestall total breakdown of law and order.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nnamdi Omoni did not respond to text messages sent to him by our reporter neither did he pick calls put across to him.

It would be recalled that cult war between rival cult groups in Miles 1, 2 and 3 Diobu over ‘matching ground’ fee had claimed two lives two weeks ago.

One Chisco Uzoma, a suspected Iceland cult member and one Saidi Wasiu a suspected Deygbam Cult member was killed.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni had confirmed the Killing of Chisco Uzoma. But for that of Saidi Wasiu, he promised to get back to our reporter after getting in touch with the DPO.
