Man Sets Family House Ablaze Over Dispute

A man simply identified as Nsarom alongside other persons believed to be his friends were said to have set ablaze his family house at Ngarahen clan, Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers State last Thursday following a dispute With his relatives.

Sources told National Network that but for the timely intervention of other members of the community, the building would have razed to the ground.

Our source, an indigene of the community who identified himself as Amadi Chigarom, told our reporter that nobody was injured during the incidence as occupants of the building who noticed the fire on time, made frantic efforts to arrest the situation.

Chigarom, said on noticing the inferno, they raised alarm which attracted other community dwellers who improvised, using water mixed with detergent, to put off the fire.

He revealed that the arsonist flee the community after he carried out the action and nobody have seen him since then.

Chigarom disclosed that a local vigilante group from neighboring Obele Town, Emohua local Government Area was called to forestall further breakdown of law and order arising from the commotion.

A personnel of the Obele Town vigilante group who pleaded not to be named as he was not authorized to speak to the press, confirmed to our reporter that they went to the community following a distress call that some hoodlums had set ablaze a building in the community.

As at press time, it was gathered that normalcy has returned to the place.
