MOSOP-USA Donates Over 2000 Books To Bori Library

…As Bane Community Creates Awareness On Health

Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP-USA, Chicago chapter has donated over 2000 books to Bori library.

Donating the books on behalf of the group, the former President of MOSOP-USA, Mene IkpoBari Senewo PhD said the group decided to donate the books in order to improve and improve the lives of their people.

He made it clear that the group does not involve in politics but to promote the lives of their people and opined that there are over 6000 books and computers awaiting to be shipped in the country and declared that 500 books will go to university, 500 to primary school, 500 to secondary school and 500 others to the general public.

The former MOSOP President in USA also said the books are not only for Ogonis but for the general public to read and get more knowledge Mene IkpoBari Senewo recalled that in 2016 and 2017 respectively, MOSOP-USA, Chicago educational program tagged “No Child left Behind” donated educational scholarship across all Ogoni local government areas to the tune of 1.42 million naira.

Senewo appealed to the Rivers State government to come to the aid of the librarian who he does the work of a cleaner, gardener, receptionist and others and commended him for the passion he has for the work.

Responding, the librarian in-charge of Bori Library, Neeka Nwite commended the MOSOP-USA Chicago chapter for donating the books to the library and confessed that, most of the books at the library are outdated. He said the kind gesture exhibited by the group will ginger him to do more, promising that he will make judicious use of the books donated to the library.

Nwite also appealed to corporate bodies, individual, government in all level to come to the aid of the library and follow the footsteps of MOSOP-USA, Chicago chapter.

“Books are information carrying materials and anyone who makes use of books gets information and educated. Education is all about developing the minds and MOSOP-USA Chicago has surprised me and also has put smiles on the faces of Ogonis and the general public”.

In another development, the people of Bane in Khana local government of Rivers State have an event tagged “I run for my health” to create an awareness on the need to exercise their bodies in which over 3000 people participated.

Speaking on the event, the convener, Mene IkpoBari Senewo said he noticed that people have been dormant when it comes to the issue of exercise and decided to hold the jog exercise in the community, stressing that for people to live healthy, there is need to exercise the body which reduces some illness in the body.

Mene Senewo described the first edition as a successful one and promised to make it an annual event which will be taking place every December 31st and commended the people of Bane community for the peace that has been existing in the community.

He also promised to document the historical event in the community, revamp the public school education and also give scholarship to some SS3 students by paying their WAEC fees which he said will kick off this year.

Those who spoke to newsmen commended the convener, Mene IkpoBari Senewo for organizing the jogging exercise and described it as first of its kind in the community, urging him to continue to hold the event yearly.
