PDP Stalwart, Others Welcome Chidi Lloyd’s Defection
A stalwart of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Hon Osi Olisa, says the defection of Hon Chidi Lloyd who was the majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly during the administration of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi will increase the fortunes of the party.
Hon Olisa, who is former Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, said Hon Lloyd is an asset to the party and described his defection as a welcome development.
He said that the future of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state was “very bleak,” saying no one could be in such a party.
The former majority leader who was a staunch ally of the Leader of the APC in the state, and transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi, recently moved from the party to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Hon Olisa said that no reasonable person could live in a house of crisis.
The party chieftain said: “More defections are indeed being expected from APC to PDP because no reasonable person would want to live in a house of crisis”, saying that the All Progressive Congress was full of crisis.
Also speaking, a youth leader in the state, Comrade Gashon Bob-Manuel, said that the youths had lessons to learn from the defection.
He said that the youths should not get involved when political gladiators in the state quarrel adding that when they strike a deal for reconciliation, the youths would not be there.
He also said that where the youths stand would not matter when political gladiators would strike a deal for reconciliation, saying there was no permanent friend or enemy in politics.
He described the former majority leader as a “figure” in the state, saying that his defection to the party was to the party’s advantage, but noted that his moving to the party was to secure a future for himself.
On his part, an up-and-coming stakeholder of the ruling party in the state, Sunny Okocha, also said that there is no permanent friend or enemy in politics and described Hon Lloyd as a good political material.
He said that the former majority leader was bred in the ruling party before he left for another party, saying that as a good father the party did not chase him when he returned.
He also said that the defection of the former majority leader was a good development and advised him to showcase his positive characteristics in making the party stronger in his area.
Okocha who is the Protagonist of Better Change (Vision 2020 – 2063) said that the ruling party has remained dominant in the state adding that the people of the state have also identified with the party which reflects in electoral victories for the party during elections.
He said that the problem of the opposition party in the state was within the party saying that the ruling party would not gain anything from their crisis.
