…As Council Boss Intensifies Campaign To Remain On Seat
As the outgoing Ikwerre Local Government Council Chairman, Hon Samuel Nwanosike intensifies his campaign to return to his seat for a second term in office, many persons including some of his councillors are allegedly kicking against the move, saying that he does not deserve a second term again having been a three times caretaker committee chairman of the council, an opportunity he has enjoyed even more than his colleagues.
Some other persons are mobilizing to replace the Kelga boss.
The recent entrant is one of the PDP ward one leaders, Isiokpo, Chief, Sir (Dr) Goodluck Nwobike, KSC who has indicated interest to run for the office.
In a press interview with the aspirant, he pleaded with Ikwerre LG people to give him their mandate to serve them as a servant leader who has a road map to consolidate on the achievements of Mr. Nwanosike through a collective responsibility and wide consultation strategy.
“We need a servant not a leader or boss,” he said.
Chief Nwobike said he is ready, prepared and willing to take his people to the next level, adding that every leader has his own plans and strategy to actualize them for the general interest of the people.
“My agenda is A. I. T. which means “A” for Accountability, “I” for Integrity and “T” for Transparency. Also I have a roadmap of “LEAF:, meaning “L” for Legislation, “E” for Economy, “A” for Administration and “F” for Finance.
Dr. Nwobike explained that under legislation, he will introduce traditional rulers parliament where first class traditional rulers will collaborate effort with the councilors to make relevant laws in the interest of their people.
He also said under administration, they will have the opportunity to train and retrain political and opinion leaders as well as the workforce to enable them acquire the capacity to do their work properly.
Under Economy, Hon Nwobike said Kelga will have an economic agenda that will encourage investors for relevant investments that will drive development of the people while his administration will equally introduce a Single Treasury Account under Finance where he noted, every income of the Local Govt will be in one account for proper control.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain made it known that his administration when given the chance, will never borrow a dime to finance his projects and programmes but rather will open up investments in the LG by boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through empowerment of the people and OFY agenda which means Operation Feed Yourself. “We shall embark on massive mechanized agriculture since we have vast land mass for farming and rivers for fishing.
On insecurity, the aspirant said he will collaborate with the state government to fight it since they don’t have the wherewithal to fight the challenge alone, adding that the protection of lives and property will be prioritized.
