Member Of Three-Man Robbery Gang Transferred To SCID

One Ndubuisi Igwe also known as SS Chief, a member of a three man robbery gang apprehended by vigilantes in Rumuodara, Obi/Akpor local Government area of Rivers State allegedly robbing worshippers returning from a cross over service, December 31st,has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID).

A Senior Police officer who did not want his name in print confirmed the development, adding that efforts are on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.

The President of Rumuodara Youth Association, Frank Weli had told our reporter, in a telephone conversation that he got a distress call that some hoodlums were robbing worshippers early morning 1st January, 2021.

Mr Weli said he quickly alerted members of the vigilante in the area and on getting to the scene, the armed men with Ak 47 riffles shot into the air to scare the members of the vigilante to make way for their escape.

The youth president further disclosed that two others with AK 47 riffles ran away but the vigilante were able to apprehend ‘SS Chief’ whose gun was not visible at that point in time.

Mr Weli said the suspect was handed over to Okporo Police Station in Rumuodara.

A locally made pistol with two cartridges was reportedly recovered from the arrested armed robber.
