Intrigues As APC Senator Praises PDP, Wike For Speaking Truth
In an unusual compliment, Senator Ali Ndume on Wednesday extolled the leadership qualities of Governor Nyesom Wike.
The Borno lawmaker described the Rivers governor as an embodiment of courage and truth.
Ndume said Nigeria would have been far better if there were many people like Wike standing with truth and speaking it “to power”
Nyesom Wike has been overwhelmingly eulogised, with the Rivers state governor described as a nationalist who always “speaks truth to power” in the country.
Showering the unusual encomium is Ali Ndume, a former leader of the Nigerian Senate and the senator representing Bono Central.
Ndume was in Rivers state on Wednesday, January 6, to commission the 11.5kms Alesa Agbonchia-Oyigbo road which connects Eleme and Oyigbo local government areas.
Senator Ali Ndume was full of praise for the leadership style of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers.
The senator, who is a chieftain of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC), was invited by Governor Wike to commission the project.
While extolling the leadership virtues of the Rivers governor, Ndume described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain as a man of honour who is ready to serve.
He also commended the governor as a true Nigerian and a trusted leader whose bold ideas and courage have been helping the country to have good opposition.
The senator added that the attributes and qualities of the governor are making him the darling bride of APC governors and top men from the ruling party.
Ndume said: “If we had people like you that speak the truth to power, Nigeria would have been better off for all of us.”
The senator, who is currently the chairman of the Senate on Nigerian Army, also enjoined the people of Rivers to contribute their quota to the development witnessed in the state under the leadership of Governor Wike.
Meanwhile, APC has challenged Governor Wike to mention the names of those he alleged were pressuring him to join the ruling party.
The challenge was made by John Akpan Udo Edehe, the secretary of the APC’s caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
The party chieftain accused the Rivers state governor of making false claims to attract national attention.
