KELGA Chairmanship Hopeful Hails Wike For Fulfilling Promises

One of the major chairmanship aspirants for Ikwerre Local Government Council in the forthcoming Local Government election, Chief Sir Goodluck Nwobike has commended the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for keeping to all his electoral campaign promises, especially fixing of the internal roads in Isiokpo.

He stated this in a chat with newsmen during the commissioning of the second phase of Isiokpo internal roads constructed by the governor recently.

He chided the out-going council chairman, for abandoning his responsibility to the state governor, “There is nothing to show as dividends of democracy to Ikwerre Local Government people except the renovated council headquarters”.

Sir Nwobike regretted that the major road that leads to Omerelu, Elele and other states was abandoned by the immediate past Amaechi administration despite its importance to the people for political reason and thanked Gov Wike for coming to their rescue.

“We are particularly grateful to the state governor for proposing to link Ogbodo in KELGA with our people in Isiodu, Emohua Local Government Area, that is what politics is all about, finding solutions to the people’s challenges” he said”.

Dr Nwobike observed that KELGA is one of the poor local governments in the state with only Risolm palm and the airport as the only company in their area.

He however pointed out that with his coming into office, the local government will boom again because company or no company, his administration will device a public/private partnership as one of his economic policies to sustain the local government.

“We shall also ensure that the jobless youths are given skill acquisition to be self-relevant and as well upgrade their capacity”.

He used the opportunity to thank the governor for ensuring a level playing field for the local government council election and also appealed for more dividends of democracy from the state.

“He who asks is not tired of asking just as the giver should not be tired of giving especially as it is now clear that KELGA is backwards in the community of local governments”, he declared.
