Rivers Council Polls: Gloria Harry Speaks

A female Chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Degema Local Government Area, in Rivers State, Gloria Boma Harry, has commended the leadership of the party for conducting transparent and all inclusive primaries ahead of the April 17 elections.

Reacting to the emergence of Hon. Michael Williams, as the Chairmanship candidate for Degema Local Government Area, Harry said, PDP will always remain the best political party in Nigeria and called on Rivers people to vote massively for PDP during the local government elections to actualise the new Rivers vision of the Wike-led administration.

Her words: “I must commend the leadership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for ensuring that internal democratic processes were explored in her bid to produce councillorship and Chairmanship candidates for the upcoming local government elections in the state. This strategy has helped most aspirants who lost during the primaries to accept defeat without rancour or ill feelings.

” I have never felt this way, neither have I had the opportunity to belong to a political party that ensures that people freely expressed their aspirations. I spent six years in the All Progressives Congress, APC, before returning to the PDP, and I can tell you for free that the difference between both political party is like night and day. There is no comparison whatsoever.

” I want to thank the Governor of Rivers State and political maestro, Chief Nyesom Wike, for ensuring that the primaries were peaceful, free and fair. I want to congratulate all the candidates who emerged victorious across the 23 LGAs, especially Hon. Williams, who will be overseeing the affairs of my dear LGA. “We had tall dreams for Degema, but we are optimistic that Hon. Williams posses the desired qualities to transform the LGA for the betterment of all and sundry. We remain committed to the ideals of the party as we look forward to returning the elected candidates to the various LGAs on April 17.
