Ahead April 17 Council Elections: TOF Commends Gov Wike, Warns Detractors In Gokana

It has been commendation galore for Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the fair and peaceful conduct of the party’s primaries recently.

Among those still hailing the Governor and the Ambassador Desmond Akawo-led PDP hierarchy in the state is a popular pressure group called The Ogoni Frontiers (TOF).

The group, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday, said it “viewed with excitement the peaceful, orderly, fair and popular outcome of the recently concluded PDP primaries in the State”, attributing the development to the understanding, maturity and overall quality management in the rank and file of the party.

TOF, in the statement signed by its Spokesman and Director of Publicity, Comrade Alloy Khenom expressed happiness at the level and readiness by the PDP towards the forthcoming election into elective offices in the state’s local governments.

The body also thanked the people of Gokana LGA for giving unanimous approval to the candidature of Hon. Confidence Dekoo and Edit Visung, as the PDP flag-bearers, for Chairman and Vice Chairmanship positions respectively in the April elections.

According to the TOF spokesman, the choice of Dekoo and Edit represents a popular and wise decision by the PDP in the drive to usher a fresh and sweet era into the anal of socio-political and economic development in Gokana Kingdom.

TOF disclosed that, it has conducted a survey which revealed that the pair of Hon. Dekoo and Visung is quiet thrilling as they have a wider reach among the people of Gokana, irrespective of political affiliation and, therefore, capable of attracting massive votes to the candidates and party in any elections.

It expressed the hope that everyone, particularly stakeholders and voters in the local government would maintain their loyalty and support to ensure the success of the duo, come April 17, explaining that TOF is apolitical and a social-cultural pressure group, concerned primarily with working for peace, unity and justice.
