Oyigbo PDP Chairmanship Candidate Boasts Of Victory At Polls

…Even As APC Flagbearer Promises Good Fight

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidate for the April 17, 2021 LG Council polls, Hon. Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu has boasted of winning the election all things being equal.

Speaking with newsmen over the weekend during the LG electioneering campaign kickoff in Port Harcourt, he said that he would rely on his goodwill and track records in government for his electoral victory and performance.

He also said the support of the people and the performance of Governor Nyesom Wike in government these five years in office will easily guarantee him victory.

Hon. Nwaogu promised to consult widely and carry everyone along if elected into office, especially the empowerment of the youths and women for self-reliance.

However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for Oyigbo LG, Hon Innocent Ajaelu in a chat with newsmen said he will give the PDP candidate a good fight at the polls despite that his party withdrew from the race as an Independent Candidate.

He explained that since their names were already submitted to the RSIEC before the withdrawal, he is still on the race, nominated by the people and so will work assiduously to rescue the Oyigbo people with a divine mandate.

When given the chance Hon. Ajaelu said he will not be answerable to any body and so be free to tackle all the Oyigbo challenges discovered including building a mini-stadium for sport development and embarking on human capital development for the citizenry.

“I will not rely on the federal allocation for revenue but would turn around the fortune of the area through the Internally Generated Revenue strategy”.

He boasted of his experience as the former vice chairman and Chief of Staff of the LGA to defeat his opponent at the polls.

He also relied on his personal relationship with the people to secure electoral victory as according to him, “I am in touch with the grassroot”.

“Hon Akara is eminently qualified for the seat but I know I will do better than him, when given the chance”, he declared.

In a similar development the former Special Adviser to the governor, Hon John Ndubueze Nwachukwu has described the Peoples Democratic Party as a movement on the mission to rescue the country.

Speaking with newsmen during the LG campaign flag-off in Port Harcourt, he said with the track records of the PDP candidate in Oyigbo, Hon Okwchukwu Akara Nwaogu, thers is no doubt the council area will witness a turnaround in development.

He agreed with the governor that the council chairmen should reside and work with the people that elected them, adding that by so doing, they will consult regularly and proffer solution to their challenges.

Hon. Nwachukwu however said it does mean the chairman would not come to Port Harcourt City if they have the need.

He used the opportunity to advise the candidates to ensure they work on their scorecards as it will enable them to move forward politically.

He confessed that the enthusiasm and expectations of the people is very high and advise that the candidates should not betray the confidence reposed in them.

On the APC party threat, Hon, Nwachukwu said not only the APC but all the other political parties are no threat to the PDP as “they only exist on the social media platform”.
