RIVPA Constitutes Election Planning Committee
Preparatory to an intended plan to usher in a new executive council, the Rivers State Independent Newspaper Publishers Association (RIVPA), has constituted a three-man Election Planning Committee (ELECO). It is to safely midwife the association’s planned electioneering processes.
The Election Planning Committee has Gloria Harry (chairperson), Abraham Dukuma (secretary) and Monday Wehere (member).
Inaugurating the Election Planning Committee at a well-attended RIVPA general assembly meeting, Pastor Jerry Needam, JP, Chairman of RIVPA tasked the ELECO members to fashion out an election time-table, conduct a peaceful, credible, acceptable and fair election in the next two months.
In a related development, the organization of newspaper publishers in Rivers State, had concluded a holistic review and amendment of its constitution.
The creme de la creme of RIVPA who were physically present at the meeting unanimously adopted the amended version of its constitution.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of RIVPA, Pastor Needam had hinted that, “final copies of the reviewed constitution which are expected to accommodate and reflect all the proposed amendments would be presented by the Constitution Review Committee (CRC) to congress on Thursday, March 25 ,2021.”
The RIVPA Chairman, Pastor Needam applauded the members’ invaluable inputs which , he opined assisted in no small way to enriching the association’s reviewed constitution.
As at press time, the Rivers State – based newspaper publishers have adjourned their general meeting to Thursday, March 25, 2021.
