Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC; has called for the cooperation and support of the Rivers State Police command in providing adequate security during the forthcoming local govt elections in the state.
The chairman of the commission, Justice George Omereji made the call when he led Members of the Commission on a Courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police.
Justice George Omereji commended the new commissioner of police for improving security in the State since assumption of duty.
Justice Omereji however seeked to renew partnership with the Command while promising to conduct a free, fair and credible Election.
He further assured the CP, that the Commission would provide a level playing field for all Political Parties in the area.
In a remark, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Eboka Friday promised to deploy massively for the Elections and to ensure that the 23 Local Government Areas in the State are properly covered, maintaining that, he will emplace security across board and in strategic places, to ensure a seamless exercise.
