Successful LG Polls Victory For Democracy  – Monarch

A prominent Royal Father in the state, HRH Eze, Sir Nwankwo Nwankwo, Eze ala IX of Umuokobo clan in Ndoki, Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State has lauded Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for organizing a successful LG election, adding that the feat is a victory for democracy.

Speaking with newsmen at Umuagbai his country have during the election, he made it known that the governor has shown capacity in all ramification which he noted, included the revival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to become the number political party in the country.

“No doubt the PDP is now the only hope for the rescue of this country,” he said. 

Gov Wike has carved a niche for himself as “Mr. Project,” it would be advisable if the council chairmen and councillors-elect would imitate the governor in this regards to leave legacies at the grassroot that will also transform them to “Mr/Mrs Projects” with the opportunity.

On the LG election process, Eze Nwankwo described it as very peaceful added to clement weather, with improved logistics arrangements by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

He said it was true that the electoral materials arrived late in some polling units but the excited electorates all the same hung around and waited for their turn to vote their choiced candidates to victory.

On why the PDP candidates swept the polls, Eze Nwankwo said with the good soup made by the likes of the governor and the state party chairman, His Excellency, Amb. Desmond Akawor, there was no basis for competition even with the almighty All Progressive Congress (APC) in the contest as according to him, “it is a matter of one showing his report card with the opportunity given him as against promises upon promises associated with the APC.”

He stated that the LG election can be described as a non-competitive election because the other political parties have no capacity to stand the PDP in anyway. The royal father said the development explained why there were mammoth crowd of APC supporters who were ready to decamp to the ruling PDP anywhere they went camping for votes.

“We are not yet there but with the leadership quality of Gov Wike, there is hope for this country,” he said.

On whether he supports one or two party system, Eze Nwankwo said multi-party system is better, at least for competition sake but not to the extent of registering 78 political parties as that is wastage of funds and resources.

On the hope for Nigeria at this point, the monarch said if the PDP continue in this way, they will no doubt take back power at the national level in the 2023 general election.

He used the opportunity to advise Nigerian citizens to continue supporting the PDP which from all indication he noted, has shown that their leaders have the interest and unity of the country and her citizens at heart.
