CAF Women’s Champions: League Rivers Angels To Face Ghana, Niger Foes
Seven-time Nigeria women’s league champions Rivers Angels have been drawn against clubs from Ghana and Niger Republic for the zonal qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The Port Harcourt-based side will face Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies and Association Sportive de la Police of Niger in Group B of the first WAFU-B Zonal qualifier of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Angels qualified to represent Nigeria at the maiden edition of the Champions League after winning the 2020/21 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL).
The draw ceremony was supervised by WAFU administrative secretary BoureimaBalima in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Group A has OnzeSoeurs de Gagnoa of Côte d’Ivoire, Union Sportive des forces Armees of Burkina Faso and Amis du Monde Football Club of Togo also battling out for a spot.
The CAF Women’s Champions League competition is a new competition introduced by CAF to develop women’s football products in Africa. It will feature top teams from all over the continent.
To decide the teams that will participate at the final competition in Egypt later this year, zonal qualifiers will be played as elimination rounds.
