Obalga Boss Speaks On E-Election Results

The chairman of Obio/Akpor local government, Barr George Ariolu, has added his voice to calls for election results in the country to be transmitted electronically from polling booths starting from the 2023 polls.

Barr George Ariolu made the call during a visit to the INEC office in Obio/Akpor located at Eliogbolo town.

He said the ongoing electoral reforms will be efforts in futility if the National Assembly expunge the transmission of election results electronically.

“We cannot get the electoral process right if we expunge this paragraph from the law. You say we now have card readers, we are registering online, what is wrong with transmitting results electronically to where the whole world can see after elections”.

Speaking on the planned commencement of physical registration for the Continuous Voter registration from next week Monday, Barr Ariolu encouraged the people of Obio/Akpor local government to turn out enmass for the exercise.

“As a council, we will support INEC in Obio/Akpor with logistics because we want our people to register in their numbers for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).”

Earlier, the electoral officer of INEC in Obio Akpor local government Area, Mrs Nicky Cleopas, assured that the Electoral body is ready for the physical Continuous Voter registration.
