PDP KELGA Ward One, Ogbodo Passes Confidence Vote On Wike, Amadi
As the Muslim faithfuls in Rivers State were enjoying the public holidays declared by the federal government, the state honourable Commissioner for Works, Barr. Elloka Tasie Amadi considered to use the opportunity to do what he knows how to do best-periodically reaching out to his Ward One, Isiokpo members for some palliatives for them to cushion the effect of the harsh economy and most importantly to ensure that the dividends of democracy trickles down to the grassroot.
The items distributed to the jubilant crowd of PDP supporters at the Ward included bags of rice, cartons of indomie noodles, tubers of yam, fish and other condiments.
The party supporters also used the opportunity to hold their quarterly meetings meant to not only keep them intact but to strategise for future elections, according to their leader, Chief, Dr. Goodluck Nwobike.
In course of the meeting, Chief, Dr. Nwobike moved for the confidence vote on the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike due to what they considered to be his superlative performance in governance for the past six years in office.
According to the mover of the motion, “having reviewed the scorecard of the governor for the past six years as presented, we are convinced that he has performed beyond expectation in all the sectors of the economy, hence our decision. We equally want to pass a confidence vote on our son and leader, Hon. Tasie Amadi for his able support to the governor and the way he is piloting the affairs of our ward”, he said.
This motion was seconded by Elder Goodlife S. Okparanta (JP) who is also the secretary, Ogbodo Council of chiefs and it was carried through voice votes.
Some of the executive members of the party ward who attended the meeting included the councilor representing the ward, Hon Caleb Orji; Sir Chika C.C. Amadi (JP); Sup Ap Increase Nsirim; one of the PDP women leaders in the area, Mrs. Stella Richard and Deacon Azu John Nwerenda.
In their respective contributions in a press interview, they expressed gratitude to the governor Wike administration for not only fixing their internal roads in Isiokpo but his determination to ensure that Isiokpo kingdom was ratified to its proper position by removing the toga of “Azumba” (backwards villagers).
“We are also grateful for his promise to link us (Ikwerre LGA) to the Emohua Local Government Area by constructing a bridge through to the area from Ogbodo Community.
The people recalled that before the advent of the Wike administration, nobody enters the area due to bad roads.
They also used the opportunity to express their gratitude to the Commissioner for Works for all that he has been doing for them including free medical outreach and partial scholarship for the youths of the wards.
The PDP Ward One, Ogbodo Isiokpo finally appealed to Governor Wike to consider contesting for the president of Nigeria at the end of his tenure, so that the rest of the country will benefit from his divine and focused governance especially now that the presidency has been zoned to the Southern Nigeria for them to produce a candidate from the zone.
