Amidst the impeachment saga rocking the Imo State House of Assembly, a Port Harcourt based businessman and top-notch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Mr. Ken Osunwa, has called on the leadership and members of the Assembly, to be circumspect and promote acts that would bring peace and unity in the state.
Speaking on the sidelines of the impeachment drama in the House, Mr. Osunwa urged the lawmakers to continue the good legislative business for which they are known for over the years as Imolites in the country and diaspora held them in high esteem.
Describing recent developments in the House as unhealthy, Osunwa affirmed that Imolites are known for sanity and orderliness, adding that the impeachment saga portrayed the lawmakers as unserious and throwing dirty linens in public.
“Our honorable members should be truly honorable in every facet of house business. I advise them to jettison any element of personal or group interests,for the overall benefit of Imolites”, cautioned the veteran media practitioner.
The Mbano-born politician,who is also a Board member of Southern and Eastern Coalition, a pressure group advocating for radical political development of the region, reminded the lawmakers that as a state grappling with economic and security challenges, a crisis in the legislative chamber is the last thing Imo State needed for now.
“At this critical phase of our journey, Imo State should not be left out of development. All hands must be on deck, legislature, executive and the judiciary. In fact, all sectors of the economy should be focused on one thing – rapid development”, he posited, stressing that anything that would bring distractions should be discarded.
Mr. Osunwa further appealed to Imolites, irrespective of political leanings, to support all genuine efforts of the state governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma, to move the state forward.
“The Governor needs support. He can’t do it alone. If Imo fails, all of us – the stakeholders including the opposition, we have lost it all. And there would be no more state to behold”, he said.
