Tinubu Is Eminently Qualified To Vie For President – Senator Abe
Former Lawmaker representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe says Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is eminently qualified to vie for president of Nigeria.
Senator Abe said this while answering questions from journalists at a breakfast meeting/media parley held at Freedom House in Port Harcourt.
According to him, Tinubu’s vast experience was what is required to manage the country, and referenced the former governor’s prodigious achievements in Lagos State.
The distinguished senator who holds a traditional title Mene Suanu I – King of Wisdom of Ogoniland said Asiwaju exemplified quality leadership, stressing that he had projected quality people to leadership in Nigeria.
On the criticism that Tinubu is old, Senator Abe said that is not an issue, stressing that leadership is a contest of ideas, not of age. He gave an example with a former Chinese Leader who was over 80 years, but still achieved greatness for China. He also stressed that people who had health conditions had held positions and achieved much. He stressed that Senator Tinubu has a track record of performance and would use his ideas to turn Nigeria around.
Asked if he was going to vie, the distinguished Senator said he was still consulting with friends, supporters and family members, after which he will make his intention public.
While reiterating that he is a registered member of APC and one of its leaders, the former Rivers South East-Senator, frowned at the crisis rocking the party in the state, alleging it was the handiwork of one man who feels he alone has ideas to fix problems.
He expressed confidence that things would be done differently in the party in 2023 as opposed to how they were done in 2015 and 2019.
Hon. Tony Okocha, former Chief of Staff used the event to present awards of honour he received on behalf of the Senator when he represented him at events.
The first award was from the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) while the second one was the Paraphernalia of office for a traditional title of Mene Suanu of Ogoniland bestowed on the distinguished senator by Gbarakor Community in Ogoniland.
Barr. Wogu Boms, former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice was among those who accompanied the senator.
